The Online RYA Day Skipper theory course provides a comprehensive introduction for all would-be skippers and navigators whether sail, power or motor.
In the RYA Day Skipper Theory Course students learn the fundamentals of inshore and coastal navigation. Key topics include charts and chartwork, pilotage, buoyage, meteorology, position fixing, shaping a course, dealing with tidal waters, use of electronic navigation, and the International Regulations for Prevention of Collision at Sea. As well as navigation this course will also give you an understanding of different boat types, explaining nautical terms, and will discuss the safety equipment typically carried onboard a boat.
The RYA Online Day Skipper theory course is an excellent prelude to the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course and equips the aspiring skipper with enough knowledge to navigate with confidence in familiar waters by day.
