Our Milebuilder events may be just the ticket for those of you who want to consolidate your knowledge, build your miles and develop your confidence as a fully-contributing crew member of a sailing vessel on passage.

RYA Radar

Radar is an invaluable aid for navigation and collision avoidance but it is only useful in the hands of a knowledgable operator. Developments in marine electronics mean that radar has once more become a very common feature of small craft integrated systems.

RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance

This course will help you prevent and solve diesel engine failure. It is designed to give you an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine and the ability to prevent breakdown at sea & rectify defects not requiring workshop support. The RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance course is designed to encourage greater knowledge, understanding and self-sufficiency.

RYA First Aid

Be safe on the water with our one-day course, which covers first aid skills, techniques and knowledge from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.

RYA Marine Radio SRC (Short Range Certificate)

A VHF radio is a vital piece of safety equipment on board. To operate it requires a licence. The RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required to operate marine VHF radio equipment on a UK flagged vessel.

Design Your Bespoke Programme

Let our experienced coaches hop on board your own boat to help improve your sailing knowledge! This is a coaching and development course primarily aimed at those who want to improve their confidence and fluency in boat handling under power or sail.  However, it is also a great opportunity for inexperienced crew to get more practical experience of being aboard and contributing to the working of the boat.

Seven Day Milebuilder

On our Seven Day Milebuilder events there will be opportunities to work overnight passages, stand watches, improve your boat-handling, see new places and take in the huge variety of sights and experiences that the English Channel can offer.

RYA Powerboat Level 2

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is the “go to” qualification for anyone wanting the basic skills, background knowledge and confidence needed to drive a powerboat safely, at speed and in close quarters. It also enables the holder to obtain the International Certificate of Competence Certificate (ICC) – an almost universal requirement for chartering abroad.

Three Day Milebuilder

If you’ve already got some experience or qualifications and want to really consolidate your learning, an Andrew Simpson Milebuilder might be just the answer. Whether you’ve recently completed your Competent Crew or you’re a more experienced Day Skipper, join us for a long weekend or even a week as we seek to go that little bit further

RYA Start Yachting

No experience necessary, RYA Start Yachting is a 2 day introduction to sailing and life aboard a typical cruising yacht. It’s an ideal first step for complete beginners. (And holders of the Start Yachting certificate can go on to complete the Competent Crew course.)

RYA Competent Crew

RYA Competent Crew is a popular course for complete beginners and those who really aspire to be active crew members. For many it is the starting point for their RYA training and a programme that could lead you all the way to RYA Yachtmaster ™.
