RYA Radar

Radar is an invaluable aid for navigation and collision avoidance but it is only useful in the hands of a knowledgable operator. Developments in marine electronics mean that radar has once more become a very common feature of small craft integrated systems.

Duration: 1 Day
RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance

This course will help you prevent and solve diesel engine failure. It is designed to give you an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine and the ability to prevent breakdown at sea & rectify defects not requiring workshop support. The RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance course is designed to encourage greater knowledge, understanding and self-sufficiency.

Duration: 1 Day
RYA First Aid

Be safe on the water with our one-day course, which covers first aid skills, techniques and knowledge from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.

RYA Marine Radio SRC (Short Range Certificate)

A VHF radio is a vital piece of safety equipment on board. To operate it requires a licence. The RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required to operate marine VHF radio equipment on a UK flagged vessel.

Seven Day Milebuilder

On our Seven Day Milebuilder events there will be opportunities to work overnight passages, stand watches, improve your boat-handling, see new places and take in the huge variety of sights and experiences that the English Channel can offer.

RYA Motor Cruising Scheme (Coming Soon)

Andrew Simpson Yachting is happy to discuss Motor Boat training and certification with you. For own boat training we can provide a proven instructor. Alternatively, we can help you to find suitable courses locally. They are reputable training centres, offering quality training experiences onboard  well-maintained and modern boats, to take you from RYA Start Motor Cruising through to Yachtmaster Prep & Exam.

Duration: 2 to 5 days, depending on the level
RYA Powerboat Level 2

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is the “go to” qualification for anyone wanting the basic skills, background knowledge and confidence needed to drive a powerboat safely, at speed and in close quarters. It also enables the holder to obtain the International Certificate of Competence Certificate (ICC) – an almost universal requirement for chartering abroad.

RYA Competent Crew

RYA Competent Crew is a popular course for complete beginners and those who really aspire to be active crew members. For many it is the starting point for their RYA training and a programme that could lead you all the way to RYA Yachtmaster ™.

RYA Day Skipper Practical

The RYA Day Skipper course aims to build on the knowledge you already have – ideally a combination of practical experience gained through previous sailing, and theoretical knowledge learned from RYA theory training.

RYA Coastal Skipper Practical

The RYA Coastal Skipper course is for those who feel it’s time to push the boundaries a little further. For many this course is a natural progression from Day Skipper. So, for example, if you’ve been in charge for a family and friends holiday afloat, or perhaps you spent your summer in your own home cruising grounds practising and developing your knowledge and skills, Coastal Skipper may well be the next step  for you.
