The step to your first sailing adventure could be as simple as booking a Solent Sailaway Day on one of our yachts to enjoy a top-class introduction to the world of yachting.

You and up to five friends will be taken from our superbly positioned base in Gosport and have the choice of the Solent’s finest destinations for your day sail.

For those of you who plan to go boating overseas it is almost a pre-requisite to show suitable certification. The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is recognised, accepted and required in cruising grounds throughout the Mediterranean and The Adriatic. It is also useful to carry of you are going further afield to the Caribbean. Even if you plan to take your own boat across the English Channel, North Sea or the Irish Sea, a certificate is more likely to be part of the list of documents you will need to produce in EU ports. An ICC is available free to any RYA member who has completed a Day Skipper practical within the last 12 months. A fee is payable by non-members.  Alternatively, you may need to undertake an ICC assessment which we can arrange.

An ICC lasts for 5 years and must be renewed on or before the expiry date if you intend to continue boating outside the UK.

CEVNI (Certificate Europeen des Voies de Navigation Interieure)

This certificate is a pre-requisite for small craft operations in most inland waterways in Europe. It is added to an ICC as an endorsement, and there is an online test available.
